Museum Fire Recovery

Description

Help the Museum Rebuild!

On the evening of 09/22/2026 a devastating fire took place on the historic grounds of the Sam Houston Memorial Museum. In a matter of hours, structures that had served as places of learning, discovery and connection to our past were lost.

Two buildings used for historical demonstrations were completely destroyed, and a modern staff workshop was damaged to the point that it will have to be demolished. These buildings have been instrumental in educating students and visitors from Walker County and the surrounding areas for years. Please help us continue that legacy by giving today!

While the fire has taken so much from these historic grounds, it does not have to take away the legacy they represent. With your support, we can begin to rebuild, restore these spaces, and ensure that future generations have the opportunity to experience and learn from the history preserved here.
